‘State govt’s vision to go for huge industrialization’

ITANAGAR, Sep 18: Minister for Industries and Power, Tamiyo Taga called on Union Minister of Industries and Commerce, Suresh Prabhu at New Delhi on September 15 last and apprised of the state government’s vision to go for huge industrialization and economic development in the state.
To achieve this, Taga said that the “Government is keen to revive the sick development agency APIDFCL so that it can play its mandated roles justifiably for overall economic and industrial growth in our state”.
Emphasizing that industrialization is the main vehicle for overall economic development of any state or a country, Taga, however said that unless the state’s lone premier financial institution, APIDFCL becomes financially more vibrant, the state may not be able to achieve its cherished dreams.
Taga also placed some suggestions to generate more employment opportunities for the unemployed youths of the state.
Referring to the North East Industrial & Investment Promotion Policy, 2007, Taga requested the Union Minister to formulate a similar policy for the NE states as the present policy already made its sunset on 31st March last as it was originally formulated for 10 years.
“Until a similar policy is announced for the NER, no industrial growth in real terms can be achieved”, he stressed.
Attention of the Union Minister was also drawn towards a letter, which the Chief Minister of the state had reportedly submitted to the Prime Minister for special package for industrial incentives for Arunachal. This included 100 percent income tax exemption, interest subsidy (three percent working capital loan to all the industries), 30 percent capital investment subsidy only on plant and machinery, 100 percent comprehensive insurance subsidy scheme, freight subsidy scheme, and corpus fund for setting up common facilities like industrial estate, industrial growth centre.
The Union Minister was also requested for financial assistance for establishment of Industrial Corridor all along the foothill areas adjoining the neighbouring state of Assam from Balemu in West Kameng to Kanubari in Longding district.
To boost the food processing section in the state, the Minister requested for a mega food park for the state, and also called for establishment of a plastic processing park.
The Union Minister has assured to extend all possible assistance, including the revival proposal of APIDCFC to the state, which is in the top priority of the Central Government, according to a release.
