ITANAGAR, Sep 21: Over 200 officers of various departments participated in a two-day state level consultative workshop on Government e-Marketplace (GeM), which began at the state Banquet Hall in Itanagar on Thursday.
Organized by the Department of IT & Communication, in association with National Institute of Smart Government, Hyderabad and GeM, New Delhi, the workshop is a first of its kind training in the state, with hands-on-training for the buyers.
Attending the programme, Special Secretary of IT & C, Prince Dhawan spoke about the concept of GeM and its functionality. He emphasized on the importance of the training and called on officers to get accustomed with the system and play pivotal role in GeM procurement to enhance efficiency and transparency.
GeM Deputy CEO, Gaurav Sharma also addressed the trainees as resource person.
The Government e-Marketplace is an online national procurement portal, which realizes the ‘Digital India’ vision of contactless, cashless and paperless mode of governance. GeM has also been incorporated under Rule 149 of the General Financial Rules, 2017.
Represented by Finance Commissioner Ashish Kindra, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh was the sixth state of the country which signed MoU with GeM on 11 July, 2017 at New Delhi.
