ITANAGAR, Sept 23: With the help of NSS volunteers, the immunization process under the Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) shall begin in 13 districts of Arunachal Pradesh from October 7 to January 2018.
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) had launched Mission Indradhanush on 25th December, 2014 with the aim of expanding immunization coverage to all children against seven vaccine preventable diseases, namely Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Childhood Tuberculosis, Polio, Hepatitis B and Measles across India by year 2020.
It has been planned to intensify the efforts to increase the accessibility to all children between the age group of 0-2 years and pregnant mothers under the mission in Anjaw, Changlang, East Kameng, East Siang, Kra Daadi, Kurung Kumey, Lohit, Longding, Namsai, Papum Pare, Tirap, Upper Siang and Upper Subansiri districts in the state.
Meanwhile, it was informed that IMI awareness campaign cum rally was started in Namsai, East Siang and Papum Pare by thousands of NSS volunteers, in association with UNICEF, Regional Centre, Guwahati and National Health Mission, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, on Saturday.
