DC reviews performance of banking institutes

PANGIN, Oct 9: A district level review committee meeting for quarter end of September 2017 for Siang district was held on Monday at Pangin under the chair of Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Singh to review and take stock of the performance of the banking institutions in the district.
Addressing government officials and bankers, the DC called for better communication and coordination among stakeholders to realise greater financial inclusion for the district. He sought an update on the performance of all the banking institutions in the district under Annual Credit Plan 2017-18.
Lamenting on the low level of target actually achieved, he directed all concerned to generate maximum awareness among the people about the various financial services, loans and schemes through Financial Literacy Camps (FLCs) involving concerned administrative officers and PRI members for greater reach and efficacy.
Each bank was directed to set up FLCs targeting at least two villages on the first Wednesday of every month.
The status of implementation of various government sponsored schemes, like PMSBY, PMJJBY, APY, KCC, etc in the district was also sought, and position of Aadhar seeding in the district was reviewed. All banks were directed to implement the schemes only after the account numbers and Aadhar numbers of the beneficiaries are furnished.
The development of banking operation in the district was also reviewed and explanation was sought from all concerned for the dismal level of CD ratio. Directions were given for improvisation in service delivery by encouraging electronic and online transactions.
Urging all stakeholders to gear up their act, the DC hoped for an improved performance record in the next DLRC meeting. (DIPRO)
