ATPWDS announces phase-wise bandh to protest delay in highway work

ITANAGAR, Oct 20: Aalo Town Public Welfare and Development Society (ATPWDS) has decided to organize phase wise agitation in protest against the government and the road construction company’s failure to start the construction of highway from Aalo (Gabu) to Bam in West Siang district.
The decision was taken by ATPWDS in a recent meeting.
The society announced 24 hour bandh on October 23 in its first phase of the agitation to be followed by 36-hr bandh from Oct 30 in the second phase and 60-hr bandh from Nov 7 in the third phase, said ATPWDS in a release.
“We are fed up with the false assurance given by the government and the road construction company, and left with no option other than resorting to democratic movement,” the organization said in the release.
The road construction company TK Engineering Consortium Pvt. Ltd. had reportedly given assurance to start the works on several occasions and several dates but it miserably failed to keep its assurance, the release said while highlighting the inconveniences caused to the commuters due to the horrible condition of the stretch of the highway from Aalo to Bam.
The meeting discussed on speed breakers on road from Nehru Chowk to Yoji-Yora CC Pavement road and Aalo to Kamba highway and demanded immediate removal of all the unauthorized and unnecessary speed breakers along with maintenance of road from Nehru Chowk to Yoji-Yora CC Pavement Road.
