Guv, CM convey Rashtriya Ekta Diwas greetings

ITANAGAR, Oct 30: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Dr B D Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have conveyed warm greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), which commemorates the birth anniversary of the Iron man of India, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.
In his message here this evening, the Governor said that Sardar Patel, the first Deputy Prime Minister of India accomplished the herculean task of integrating 565 Princely States into the Indian Union after Independence in 1947.
On the occasion, the Governor has appealed to the people of Arunachal Pradesh to stand united and rise well above the walls of caste, creed, race, region and religion for a stronger and better India.
Spelling out the contributions of Sardar Patel in organizing peasant’s movements on Gandhian principles in Gujarat and during the Quit India Movement, Pema said observance of the day provides an opportunity to re-affirm inherent strength and resilience of the nation to withstand actual and potential threats to unity, integrity and security of the country.
Khandu hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for mooting the idea of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in 2014 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.
He also called upon civil servants to re-dedicate themselves to nation building on the birth anniversary of the person, who is known as the patron saint of civil servants of India for being instrumental in establishing the modern all-India civil services.
