Holy Relics from Thailand enshrined at Golden Pagoda

TENGAPANI, Nov 1: One part of the Holy Relics of Lord Buddha, which arrived at Golden Pagoda (Kongmu Kham) from Thailand on Monday, was installed and enshrined in the main dome of the pagoda on Wednesday.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein also took part in the enshrinement ceremony attended by the abbot of Golden Pagoda Monastery Ven. Vimalatissa Mahathero, monks and delegates from Thailand besides local monks and devotees.
The Holy Relics has been endowed to the Golden Pagoda in two parts courtesy the Supreme Patriach of Thailand, the Sangharaja. The other part will be kept at the Golden Pagoda Monastery for permanent exposition.
The Golden Pagoda Monastery also held a higher ordination ceremony of four monks during the day.
It is also holding the 7th Kathina Civara Dana, the sacred robe offering ceremony on November 3.
The delegation from Thailand, which includes monks, will take part in the programme.
Delegates from Thailand have been taking part in the Kathina Civara Dana ceremony of the Golden Pagoda for the last couple of years which assumes significance as the people to people contact on the lines of spiritual tourism has been taking shape.
The Golden Pagoda is also making plans for construction of a monk ordination temple in Thai architecture and a Thai devotee has assured to provide the expertise for the construction.
