APCC allege breach of Constitutional provisions

ITANAGAR, Nov 10: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has alleged breach of Constitutional provisions by not conducting the by-election to Pakke-Kessang Assembly constituency even after expiry of six months since the seat fell vacant on February 8 this year.
“According to the Constitution, the bye-election to the Assembly Segment should have been completed within six months. But, the delay in issuing notification to conduct the by-election even after the expiry of six months is unprecedented, arbitrary and against the Constitutional provision,” said APCC in a letter to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India.
APCC appealed to the CEC conduct the by-poll to Pakke-Kessang constituency along with Likabali seat by issuing fresh notification at the earliest.
Likabali Assembly seat fell vacant after demise of sitting MLA Jomde Kena on September 4.
