HM commends LDV Police

ROING, Nov 15: Home Minister Kumar Waii commended Lower Dibang Valley (LDV) Police for exhibiting courage in dealing with ultras, in which the district police apprehended NSCN cadre(s) from Paglam area few months ago.
The Home Minister, who arrived here on Wednesday and inaugurated the new office building of the Roing Police Station, rewarded the team of police with Rs.50,000 for the apprehension.
Addressing the district police at VKV Hall Roing, he encouraged the district police to uphold professionalism, discharge duty and live up to the people’s expectations.
Rajya Sabha Member Mukut Mithi, MLA Mutchu Mithi, Deputy Commissioner in-charge Chestha Yadav, ZPM Starson Saring, SP Sanjay Sain were present during the inauguration function.
Later, Waii attended the opening ceremony of the 4th Chief Minister’s Sub-Veteran and Veteran State Level Badminton Championship at Ita Pulu Indoor Stadium, Roing and declared it open.
Waii spoke about the growing popularity of the sport and said that he has faith on the potential of the badminton players of the state, who if encouraged, can also represent the country at international level.
The Home Minister said that he was working for establishment of a Badminton Academy at Itanagar very soon.
He encouraged the youth to take up sports sincerely and bring laurels to state and the country.
Chairman Sports Authority of Arunachal Bamang Tago also spoke on the occasion. He lauded MP Mithi and former chief minister late Dorjee Khandu for introducing the job quota for meritorious sports persons in State government department.
The inaugural match was played between the duo of MP Mithi and Open Melo and Waii and KB Gurung, which was won by Mithi-Melo pair.
In the women’s category, the first match was played between partners Pema Laden-Likha Moni, and Taw Yania-Boni Yapu.
The tournament is being organised by the Lower Dibang Valley Badminton Association in collaboration with Aruanchal State Badminton Association.
In total, 87 players are participating in the championship under various categories, age group 35 to 50+.
The finals will be played on the November 18.
Local MLA Mutchu also spoke.
Arunachal State Badminton Association President Techi Ratu also attended the opening ceremony.
