ITANAGAR, Nov 17: Two girls from Arunachal Pradesh-Bachimi Khonjuju and Alisha Khonjuju will participate in the Paragliding Accuracy Championship scheduled at Mechukha Adventure festival from November 23 to 25 as ground staffs.
Bachimi and Alisha, both Class VIII students from Sekong village of Lada circle under Bameng sub-division of East Kameng have completed the Club Pilot Paragliding Course at Khamset, Pune along with 9 others, informed APSED President Vijay Sonam.
They underwent the course, which was sponsored by the State Tourism Department, under the Initiative of Arunachal Pradesh Society for Education & Development (APSED).
The main objective of providing them training was to motivate the younger generation to take Paragliding as sports and also as a profession.
The trained youths will further go for progression course to hone their skills.
“Efforts are being made to manage at least couple of glides for the boys to enable them to take part in the competition.
Altogether, 30 Pilots from India and Nepal are expected to participate in the Paragliding Accuracy competition.
Sonam sought support from the parents, the government and well wishers for promotion of the sport.
Paragliding as sports is likely to be included in the national, Asian and Olympics in coming days, he added.
