Mass tree plantation marks 2nd day of golden jubilee

DEM, Nov 19: The second day golden jubilee celebration of the Dem Baptist Church started with mass tree plantation in and around the church premises with a motto to preserve the environment and minimize the effect of global warming on the planet earth.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary, Likha Saaya highlighted the motto of the golden jubilee. He also dedicated the link road from volleyball ground to football ground at Dem village to the people of Dem and also announced construction of a golden jubilee multipurpose community hall.
The second day also saw mass offering by the jubilant Dem villagers. All the villagers donned in their traditional attire queued up to offer whatever best they have for the Christ’s kingdom. The programme was led by Reverend Halli Likha, Secretary, EFI, North East, Guwahati.
In the ‘Late khoda Taha Volleyball’ final for women’s, Kugi Tago Baptist Church emerged winner by defeating Tago BC.
Reverend Dr Changha Chippo delivered his word of God on the theme “Year of liberty” leviticus- 25:10.
The pioneers and luminaries who are responsible for establishment of Church at Dem village were felicitated and honoured.
The second day celebration ended with cultural competition organized among the churches which attained 50 years of establishment.
