JCFC Bene lifts 3rd DREMF Tourney via tie- breaker

AALO, Nov 21: Jumi Combat Football Club Bene (JCFC) lifted the 3rd Dubi Rike Ete Memorial Football Tourney by trouncing Memo Sports Club (MSC) 7-4 in a nail-biting tie-breaker final, played at the Aalo General Ground on November 19 last.
JCFC scored the first goal in the 20th minute of the first half, but MFC played fast to pump in two consecutive goals to lead 2-1 till the first half whistle.
Both the teams were locked 4-4 till extra time of play. However, much experienced JCFC made it 7-4 through penalties to lift the trophy.
The winning team received a cash prize of Rs 1,00000, while MFC bagged the runners-up trophy and cash award of Rs 50,000.
Addressing the concluding function, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, P D Sona said that sports is emerging as a big industry in the world over and the younger generation should inculcate discipline, team spirit, character and strive for employment through games and sports.
Also present on the occasion was Aalo DFO, Abhinav Kumar, who stressed on preserving rich biodiversity of the region and exhorted the youth to promote it through adventurous sports, while Yomto Ete, who sponsored the tournament for the third consecutive year disclosed that more sporting events will also be organised in the future.
DFA Secretary, Doba Loyi; Commandant Garwal Rifle Bogdo Battalion, Col Kedar Aradhye and West Siang Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman DSA, Swetika Sachan also gave away medals and certificates to football and taekwondo players, who are participating in various national-level events. (DIPRO)
