BHALUKPONG, Nov 27: PHE & WS Parliamentary Secretary, Kumsi Sidisow inaugurated the ‘Buddha Vihara’ at Upper Bhalukpong on Monday.
Addressing the gathering, Sidisow said that the goal of all religions is the same, with differences in systems and practices.
Sidisow said that the construction of the Gompa was the initiative of the first Chairman of the Department of Karmik and Adhyatmik (DOKA), late Reverend T G Ringpoche.
The structure came up at an estimate of Rs 75 lakh and was executed by the Water Resource Department in an area of two acres approximate.
On request for security fencing, he assured to construct a boundary wall for the Gompa campus, amounting to Rs 30 lakh soon.
The Gompa will be maintained by the Bhalukpong Buddhist Welfare Society and the Forest Department will have an avenue plantation for its beautification and to attract tourists.
Large numbers of believers of the Buddhist community were present on the occasion.
