TEZU, Dec 5: Textile & Handicrafts Development Officer (THDO) of Anjaw, Dinathso Chaitom has been accused of making sexual advances and assaulting his colleague on December 1.
He has reportedly been absconding since the incident.
Speaking to this daily, the Lohit Superintendent of Police informed that they received a complaint regarding the incident on December 3.
“A case has been registered at the Tezu Police Station and we are trying to locate Chaitom’s whereabouts,” the SP said.
Reportedly, a departmental picnic was held in the premises of the office-cum-crafts centre of the textile & handicrafts department at Tezu on that day, following which, the perpetrator reportedly offered to drive the victim home.
Chaitom allegedly made sexual advances towards her in the vehicle, and when she protested, he physically assaulted her.
“Medical tests have also been conducted, and the victim has received bruises on her body,” informed the SP, adding that the perpetrator will be apprehended soon.
Meanwhile, the Bellai Welfare Society has strongly condemned the crime, and demanded exemplary action under the provisions of the Government Service Act and the law of the land at the earliest.
