ITANAGAR, Dec 6: The Home Department has finally approved Rs 50 lakhs as ex gratia to Nada Asha, the widow of deceased IRBn constable Nada Umbing.
Umbing, along with three Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel, lost his life in a helicopter crash at Hostalam in Papum Pare district on July 4 this year. He had been attached with the IAF personnel on a rescue mission in Sagalee, to airlift stranded people.
The helicopter went missing just after taking off from Pilputu helipad in Sagalee around 3:40 pm.
Director General of Police, Sandeep Goel had earlier affirmed that Umbing’s family would receive an ex gratia amount at par with the families of the IAF personnel.
In early August, the state government had handed over cheques worth Rs 50 lakh each to Air Commodore K V R Raju, Air Officer Commanding of the IAF base in Tezpur, to be handed over to the families of the three IAF personnel killed in the chopper crash.
