KHONSA, Dec 14: The 2nd edition of the constituency-level Martyr Hangpan Dada Memorial Football and Volleyball Trophy for both men and women began at Nehru Stadium here in Tirap district on 14 December.
Addressing at the inaugural ceremony, ADC Techu Aran urged the participants in the tournament, and the youths of Tirap as a whole, to abstain from use of drugs and other intoxicating substances.
He advised the sportspersons to avail the five per cent job reservation in various departments, and assured all possible help to Dada’s family and children from the district administration.
Chasen Dada, wife of the martyr, expressed appreciation for the state government for renaming the CM’s Trophy as Martyr Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy to commemorate his sacrifice for the country.
Khonsa DSO (Sports), Roy Mihu also spoke.
In the opening football match of the 55th Khonsa East Constituency, Upper Kolam FC beat Changthing FC in penalty shots.
In the volleyball opening matches, Nogna Youth Club defeated Senliam Volleyball team, Thungjang VC beat Upper Kolam VC, Lazu Volleyball Team defeated New Kothin and Nogna Youth Club slashed Tutnyu Volleyball team.
