Orgs demand speedy probe into youth’s death

ITANAGAR, Dec 19: The Toru Panchayat Youth Welfare Association (TPYWA) has requested the RWD minister to direct the investigation agency to expedite the probe into the death of its assistant general secretary, Tarh Katu.
Katu’s body was found on the roadside near Api Colony in Nirjuli on Sunday morning, and the police suspect it is a case of strangulation.
Claiming that 28-year-old Katu was brutally murdered, the TPYWA in a memorandum to the minister on Tuesday demanded that ‘the culprits be booked under Section 302 of the IPC at the earliest, to deliver justice the bereaved family.’
Katu is survived by this wife and two minor daughters, the association said.
Lamenting that the Capital Complex ‘has become a dumping ground for criminals who do not hesitate to take lives,’ the association said it would take the path of agitation if justice is not delivered at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the Toru Circle Students’ Union has also demanded a thorough probe into Katu’s death case, and sought the arrest of those involved at the earliest.
The Arunachal Pradesh Anti-Corruption Andolan Committee (APACAC) also on Tuesday appealed to the Nirjuli police station officials to speed up investigation into Katu’s death.
Strongly condemning the incident, the APACAC in a communiqué said that it suspects Katu’s death to be a murder, and demanded inquiry on his friends who were reportedly with him on the fateful night. It also sought details of Katu’s call records of the night.
