Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy begins at East Kameng

SEPPA, Jan 2: The second district level football and volleyball tournament for Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy began at General Ground here on Tuesday.
Former MLA Tani Loffa, who kicked off the tournament, advised the participants to maintain discipline and abide by the rules and regulations of the game.
“Participation is more important than winning,” he said, and exhorted the players to play the game with true sportsman spirit.
Highlighting the scopes in sports and about job quota for meritorious sportspersons, the former MLA encouraged the players to grab the opportunity provided by the government by excelling in sports. He further advised the participants to give equal importance to study too.
Recalling the extreme sacrifice made by Ashok Chakra late Havildar Hangpan Dada, DSO in-charge Nondo Doka briefed the gathering about the aims and objectives and gist of the tournament.
Chayang Tajo beat Pakke Kessang 4-2 in men’s football, while Bameng defeated Chayang Tajo in a volleyball match. In the women’s category, Chayang Tajo won the first volleyball match.
The tournament will end on January 5. (DIPRO)
