MIAO, Jan 15: A group of field workers under the Namdapha Tiger Reserve (NTR) in Changlang district has demanded that their salaries – pending for the last nine months – be disbursed before 16 January.
In a representation to the NTR field director, the Miao unit of the All Arunachal Pradesh Workers’ Union (AAPWU) on Monday said that the contingency staffers working at different ranges under the establishment of the NTR field director have not received their salaries since April last year.
‘Our wages are consolidated and very meagre to maintain our family even during ordinary times when the wages are paid on time,’ it said, adding that their condition has gone from bad to worse because of the delay in salary disbursement.
The union added that many of their members have resorted to taking loans on interest from local money lenders.
The AAPWU unit said it would resort to democratic movement if its demand is not met on time by the department.
