NAHARLAGUN, Jan 25: The Swachchta Pakwada campaign in the capital was flagged off here on Thursday morning by Capital Complex Additional Deputy Commissioner Talom Dupok.
Addressing the gathering of residents and officials and staff of the Naharlagun Highway division, Dupok urged the people to make it a daily habit to maintain cleanliness at workplaces, schools, colleges, hospitals, and other areas, and to teach the younger generation to adopt clean habits.
Naharlagun Highway division Executive Engineer Nani Tath informed that the campaign is part of the union road transport & highway ministry’s nationwide initiative.
“Here, teams have been formed to carry out cleanliness drives from Banderdewa to Hollongi,” he said, adding that vehicles fitted with PA systems will broadcast songs related to Swachh Bharat Abhiyan all around the capital from 31 January.
Residents, along with workers from the Highway division, IMC Councillors Lishi Yapu and Taba Takia, Assistant Engineer Debia Takam, and others participated in today’s cleanliness drive.
