‘Donate more blood to address scarcity’

ITANAGAR, Jan 27: State Blood Transfusion Council Deputy Director Dr Nabum Budh appealed to the people to voluntarily donate blood at least once every three months in order to minimize scarcity of blood in the state.
He was speaking during a blood donation camp organised jointly by the Arunachal Voluntary Blood Donors’ Organization (AVBDO) and his own family at RK Mission Hospital here on Saturday.
Twenty units of blood were collected during the camp.
Lauding Dr Budh’s initiative, AVBDO chairman Ramesh Jeke urged people to follow the example of Dr Budh and organize such camps on occasions like birthdays, marriages, family gatherings, etc, and help the AVBDO in their mission “to ensure 100% blood availability in the state.”
A similar camp was also conducted at the National Institute of Technology, Yupia, in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society on the occasion of Republic Day.
Fifty donors, including NCC cadets, students, faculty members and staff donated blood during the camp.
