KARSINGSA, Feb 9: Thirty-two trainees, mostly women from different parts of the Capital Complex, participated in a ‘training-cum-demonstration programme’ on mushroom production technology, conducted here by the Papum Pare Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) on Thursday.
During the programme, home science specialist Nane Taga conducted a session on the health benefits of mushroom. She informed that mushroom is a rich source of selenium, which acts as an antioxidant that helps in defending cancer cells, provides protein, vitamins and minerals, and boosts the immune system.
Agronomy specialist Tadang Meena, who coordinated the programme, made a PowerPoint presentation on cultivation technique of oyster mushroom.
The farmers later witnessed hands-on demonstration of ‘bagging of mushroom’, and visited to the mushroom demonstration unit of the KVK. Mushroom spawn were also provided to the participants.
