BOMDILA, Feb 13: Residents of Bomdila, including West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Sonal Swaroop, heads of departments, traders, students and others attended an awareness camp on disaster management organised by the district disaster management wing at Buddha Stadium here on Tuesday.
Dwelling on the types of disasters, Circle Officer SW Mosobi urged the people to observe the dos and don’ts thoroughly in order to minimize the impact of natural disasters and prevent losses.
“More than disasters, ignorance and apathy kill people,” she said.
A mock drill on quick response, first aid and security was performed by personnel of the Dirang-based 4 Bn ITBP, while personnel of the fire service demonstrated fire safety measures, and provided training in firefighting.
The administration (road transport) and the police also observed Road Safety Day here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the importance of the programme, DTO (Transport) P Sangyu advised the people to follow the safety norms while driving, and to follow the traffic rules in order to avoid road rage and loss of life and property.
Police officers including the PS OC spoke about the Motor Vehicle Act.
Among others, ADC B Puroik, the ITBP assistant commandant, and the DSP attended both the programmes. (DIPRO)
