DCC questions Rijiju, Taki over road’s condition

ITANAGAR, Feb 15: The Lower Subansiri District Congress Committee (DCC) has alleged that the seven-kilometre long Ziro to Hapoli stretch of the highway has not been repaired “due to the negligence of MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju and local MLA Tage Taki.”
The repair work was part of the package announced by MoS for Road, Transport & Highways Mansukh Mandavia during his visit to Ziro in 2017.
The union minister had announced Rs 11 crore for maintenance of the Potin-Ziro road, considering the pathetic condition of the stretch.
“The announcement was made in the presence of the local MLA, and Rijiju also spoke about it on various platforms. But strangely, the seven km stretch has not been repaired, and we would like to ask both the leaders why they have chosen to ignore the people of Ziro valley,” the DCC stated in a release.
It said the pathetic condition of the road in Ziro discourages tourists from visiting the valley. “Also, due to bad road condition and potholes, accidents regularly take place. Is it not the moral responsibility of the local MLA to look after his constituency? His responsibility as the local MLA is to maintain the road of his constituency,” the DCC added.
