150 trained under HSRT initiative

ITANAGAR, Feb 16: The tourism department on Friday organized the valedictory function for 150 trainees under the Hunar Se Rojgar Tak (HSRT) initiative at the State Food Craft Institute near IG Park here.
HSRT training is a skill development initiative of the union tourism ministry, aimed at creating employable skills among the unemployed youths, particularly school dropouts.
The training also emphasizes on improving the attitude and behaviour of the trainees, in order to enhance their market acceptability. The course content has been designed by the National council of Hotel Management & Catering Technology.
The state tourism department also conducted a short-term training programme on tour operation management, which saw the participation of 26 educated youths.
Certificates of completion were given away to the trainees during the valedictory function, which was attended by Tourism Secretary Joram Beda.
Beda spoke about the present scenario of unemployment in the state, and stressed on how tourism industry plays an important role in providing employment to the youths.
He reiterated that since it will not be possible to secure a government job for each and every one, youths should undergo skill development training and explore their potentials to become self-employed. He also encouraged the trainees to avail of government schemes under the CMPVY and the Swalamban Yojna.
Tourism Assistant Director Bengia Manna Sonam highlighted the importance of skill development training like HSRT in the state, while master trainer SK Kar presented the training report and informed the students of the job opportunities after completion of the training.
An interaction-cum-counselling session was held for the trainees on various issues related to employment opportunities and flagship schemes of the government.
