BOMDILA, Feb 19: The 5th Pedung Archery Tournament, organized by the Pedung Archery Club on the occasion of Losar festival, began at the archery ground in Pedung village, about 4 km away from West Kameng district HQ Bomdila, on 19 February.
Guru Tulku Namdrol Legrap, the abbot of Kunzang Choekorling monastery, Bomdila, kicked off the eight-day tournament.
The opening match in the men’s category was played between Monyul and Sa-Dawa teams, in which the former beat the latter by 74-68 points.
Lobsang Dawa of Monyul team, who scored 23 points, was declared Man of the Match.
Besides Monyul and Sa-Dawa, other participating teams are Pedung Archery Club, Sera Youth Welfare Society Archery Club, Jamyang (PAC), and Lingesar Family Line (men), and LMG and Family Line (women).
The competition will also be held for archers below 15 years of age.
