ITANAGAR, Mar 11: The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has reportedly failed to respond to the assistance sought by the district administration of East Kameng to trace out a man, who went missing after falling from a suspension bridge over the Kameng River connecting Champing Village and Richo under Bana Sub-Division in East Kameng on 5th March, 2018.
The missing man, identified as Karta Kino (45),was making across the suspension bridge when he fell into the Kameng River after a stormy wind swayed the bridge violently.
Karta is believed to have drowned as his body remains untraceable despite several attempts by relatives and the district administration.
Karta is a local silversmith, with two wives, and four sons and four daughters.
The district administration has written a letter to the Commanding Officer 12Bn NDRF Doimukh, requesting that a team be sent over to trace out the missing man.
However, it is said that the NDRF has neither sent its team nor responded to the district administration’s requisition of assistance.
This daily could not contact the NDRF Commanding Officer for a reaction.
Meanwhile, the Kino Welfare Society made fervent appeals to the district administration and the state government to provide ex-gratia to the bereaved family.
Panic stricken family members also appealed to the NDRF to help them to trace and retrieve Karta.
