ITANAGAR, Mar 21: A seminar on value addition of geographical indications (GI) tagged products from North East was organized by the North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC) Limited at a town hotel here on Tuesday.
Director of Department of Agriculture, Anong Lego spoke about how GI tag increases the value of a product.
Debanjan Chakrabertty, Senior Examiner, Trade Mark and Geographical Indication highlighted on GI in India, practice and procedure property rights policy and trade mark.
Discussions were also held on Arunachal oranges that have been registered under GI registration, and on organic products and bamboo.
Deputy Director of Department of Industries, Tuli Basar, Horticultural Marketing Officer, APHPM & PB Maga Tal, Chairperson, Ajeanna Society Techi Anna and Chairperson, Action Aid Society Teetu Yoka also took part in the discussion.
The event helped create awareness about the importance of GI and also about its scope in the state, according to a released issued by NERAMAC Ltd, Guwahati.
