Civil and Army docs come together to save patient

TAWANG, Apr 7: Doctors from the Khandro Drowa Sangmu District Hospital here and the Khrimu-based 305 Army field hospital on Saturday saved a young woman patient with ectopic pregnancy.
The woman was admitted in the district hospital in a critical condition, but the operation could not be conducted in the hospital because of unavailability of an anaesthetist.
She was therefore immediately shifted to the army hospital in Khrimu, where she was operated on by Drs Tenzin Kunga and Tenzin Gyaltsen from the district hospital, and Maj Sunil Julmaria, general surgeon of the field hospital.
During the operation, it was observed that about 2.5 litres of blood had collected inside the woman’s abdomen from a ruptured left tubal pregnancy.
Left-sided salpingectomy was applied on the patient, and four units of blood were given to her from the district hospital’s blood bank during the procedure. (DIPRO)
