LONGDING, Apr 11: The Wancho Students’ Union (WSU) has strongly opposed the Government’s reported move to shift the 1st IRBn B-Company from Longding district to Tezu and appealed to the government for reconsidering the move.
The union said the government should reconsider the move in view of the strategic location of Longding district, which shares border with Myanmar, Assam and Nagaland.
“The Government in the past had shifted the SSB, ITBP and CRPF from the district, which has weakened the strength of security forces in the district. At a time when the district is in need of more security forces, such a move by the Government is completely against the interest of the people,” the students’ union said.
