State committed to IT to improve transparency and accountability: Pema

ITANAGAR, Apr 11: Chief Minister Pema Khandu has said his Government was working towards using Information Technology (IT) to improve transparency and accountability.
“Despite connectivity problem, the State Government is taking various steps to promote IT applications in various departments in response to the Prime Minister’s vision for a digital India, Pema said while addressing the inaugural session of the training on e-Governance Leadership for senior political and government executives organised by Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad at San Francisco on 10 April.
He urged the Parliamentary Secretaries and MLAs attending the training to initiate some innovative projects in their respective departments and constituencies.
Consul General of India in San Francisco V Ashok also attended the inaugural session. He appreciated the government for initiating such training programme on IT in San Francisco. He suggested the ways Agricultural and Horticultural produces of Arunachal can be promoted and exported outside the country. He also expressed that there is huge potential for growth of tourism in Arunachal Pradesh.
Chief Secretary Satya Gopal explained the detailed status of connectivity, including digital connectivity in Arunachal. He said the Government is committed to work on resolving various connectivity issues.
Later, the trainees had close interactions with researchers and academicians on various topics in the University of California Berkeley. Among others Dr Daniel Wilson presented on behavioral sensing technology and Environmental Engineering. Prof Ashok Gadgil presented on Technology related to safe drinking water.
Prof Aprajit Mahajan presented on use of Machine learning to improve collection of taxes and minimizing evasions of taxes.
Noah Klugman presented on Energy Acess and enabling technologies. Participants also interacted with the representatives of Planet Lab on the development of Agriculture and Horticulture through use of Satellite technologies.
Organized by IT Department in collaboration with IIM Ahmedabad, the training has been going on since 5 April. Led by the Chief Minister, nine parliamentary secretaries and three MLAs are attending the training.
The main purpose of the training is to highlight the role of political executive in implementation of IT initiatives and increase efficiency of the government for better service delivery to citizen.
Prof Subhas Bhatnagar and Prof Rekha Jain of IIM Ahmadabad also attended the event. (PRO, CM)
