DCM calls for expediting repair work on Potin-Pangin road

ITANAGAR, Apr 12: Taking cognizance of the deteriorating condition of the Potin-Pangin stretch of the Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH), Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Thursday called for expediting the repair work on the road.
During a meeting with PWD (Highway) Chief Engineer Toli Basar, PWD (Survey, Design & Planning) Chief Engineer Atop Lego and PWD (Highway) Executive Engineer B Pelen, the DCM instructed the highway CE to re-tender work for repair and maintenance of the Pai-Pine Grove, the Daporijo-Dumporijo, and the Bame-Pangin stretches under Phase-I (97 km). He also called for tendering work on the Ziro-Daporijo and the Dumporijo-Bame stretches, including the road in Kamle district, under Phase-II (254 km).
“The stretches where the roads are in really bad shape, repair and maintenance should be done to at least make them convenient for traffic movement, as the Potin-Pangin road has already been taken over by the MoRTH and will be re-constructed by the ministry soon,” Mein said.
In view of the work season running out, he asked the department to complete the tender process within this month, so that the repair and maintenance work may be completed before the onset of monsoon.
He also asked the department to carry out repair and maintenance work on the bridge over the Subansiri river in Upper Subansiri district, which is reported to be in a bad shape.
When asked by the DCM about the inordinate delay in carrying out repair and maintenance work, Basar informed that the NIT for the maintenance work was issued on 9 March and the technical bids opened on 28 March last.
“But due to non-responsiveness, the tenders were cancelled,” he said.
Basar, however, informed that the re-tendering process is in progress, and said the work would be completed within this month. (PRO to DCM)
