MLA for need-based agri activities

TAWANG, Apr 27: Tawang MLA Tsering Tashi stressed on need-based and location-specific intensive agricultural activities to increase the income of the district’s farmers.
Addressing a review meeting of the district’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) here on Friday, the MLA said crops should be cultivated “according to the demands of local consumption and domestic markets.”
KVK head Dr DS Chhonkar highlighted the activities carried out in (selected village) Kitpi under the ‘Doubling farmers’ income by 2022′ programme, and enumerated strategies to be formulated for achieving the task of doubling farmers’ income.
Deputy Commissioner Sang Phuntsok advised the KVK officials and scientists to create awareness on green manuring and vermicomposting among the farmers, and to “encourage them to apply it practically.”
ADO KB Kayastha informed that the entire farming community of Kitpi village is covered by ATMA and Tawang DDA under different schemes.
CO Dorjee Norbu, DRDA PD Lobsang Tsetan and HoDs from different departments also attended the meeting.
