Late Jomin Tayeng remembered

ROING, May 7: Jomin Tayeng, the first Indian Administrative Service (direct recruit) from the state was remembered on his fifth death anniversary in a prayer meeting here on Monday.
Family members, relatives and well wishers paid their homage to the departed soul today in his residence at Roing.
The first IAS (direct recruit) from the state, late Tayeng was known as a ‘straight forward, no-nonsense bureaucrat’. He retired as Chief Secretary of Meghalaya after serving in various capacities in a career spanning 36 years. He was also a sitting member of the legislative Assembly until his demise on 7th May, 2013.
He is survived by his wife and Dambuk MLA Gum Tayeng and children.
