Mass awareness for workers

ANINI, May 12: Mass awareness was held for workers under the aegis of the Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) at the Labour cum Registering Officer’s office here on Saturday.
ADC Gautam Hazirika gave non-statutory benefits like raincoats, identity cards, boots and solar lamp to registered workers of Dibang Valley district.
Registering Officer SB Namsa narrated the benefits given under the board, and informed that the workers can avail statutory and non statutory benefits.
Under statutory benefits, workers can avail housing loan of Rs 1,00,000, tools’ advance of Rs 15,000, medical benefits of Rs 200 per day up to Rs 15,000, maternity benefit of Rs 1000, pension benefit of Rs 500 (per month) after retirement or 60 years of age, educational or scholarship benefits for nominee from Rs 40,000 to 50,000 (maximum) and Rs 15,000 (minimum) for Phd, MPhil and various higher education courses (outside or within the state), normal death benefit of Rs 50,000, accidental death benefit of Rs 1,00,000, funeral benefit of Rs 1000, PMJJBY (life insurance) maturity amount of 2,00,000, etc.
Non-statutory benefits are those benefits received from the APB&OCWWB from time to time and depend on fund availability in the board.
Dibang Valley unit AAPPWU president Jando Taru appealed to the workers to register their name in the board to get those benefits.
Among others, the programme was attended by the ADC, labour officer, executive members of AAPWU and workers of various departments. (DIPRO)
