APCC seeks reconstitution of APSCW

ITANAGAR, May 16: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) vehemently condemned the recent appointment of new body of the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) and demanded immediate reconstitution of the 5th APSCW body.
Terming the appointments as “illegal and arbitrary”, the APCC in a communiqué on Wednesday said that the government should go as per the rules laid down in the constitution and appoint deserving APST candidates as listed by preceding panel of the APSCW.
“Despite repeated opposition by the Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society, the government has not addressed the issue which proves that the practice of anomalies and illegalities have become culture of the Pema Khandu government”, the APCC added.
Also condemning the appointment of a non-APST in the 5th body of the APSCW, the APCC demanded that the government drop the appointed non-APST candidate from the APSCW to safeguard the interest of the women of the state.
