ASBA to facilitate age verification for junior players

ITANAGAR, May 16: The Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA), following directive of the Badminton Association of India (BAI), is facilitating age verification for junior players (U-13, U-15, U-17 and U-19) to tackle the issue of age fraud.
A three-member panel of doctors has been constituted by the Chief Medical Superintendent of Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences, Naharlagun on the requisition of the ASBA to examine the players’ age as per the format made by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The medical examination includes X-ray of shoulder joint with clavicle (AP view), elbow joint (AP and lateral view), hand with wrist (AP view) and pelvis with hip joint (AP view), informed ASBA Secretary Bamang Tago.
The BAI has asked all the age-group players, who have not registered their date of birth within 12 months from their birth, to undergo medical examination if they want to continue playing in the age group events.
Meanwhile, ASBA secretary Tago informed that the second Inter-Club State Level Prize Money Badminton Mixed Team Event-2018 will be conducted from 14 to 16 June at the Raj Bhawan and MLA Cottage badminton stadiums.
The event will be held for men’s singles and doubles, girls’ singles and mixed doubles.
