DA reviews preparedness for monsoon

ITANAGAR, May 18: The capital complex district disaster management authority (DDMA) on Friday reviewed the district’s preparedness for the upcoming monsoon.
During a meeting in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner here, DDMA CEO Talom Dupak urged all the stakeholders to take advance action in order to tackle calamities expected to occur during the monsoon.
Emphasizing the need for greater cooperation between various stakeholders and non-governmental agencies in order to tackle disasters collectively, he directed the line departments to submit their disaster management plans as soon as possible.
He also laid stress on timely issuance of notice to people living in vulnerable areas, and maintaining stocks of lifesaving drugs and food grains.
Issues like disaster relief measures, early warning systems, checking the readiness of equipment and communication systems, procurement of relief materials, coordinated approach for disaster response in the districts, and community-based disaster management were discussed during the meeting, which was also attended by SP (Fire & Emergency Service) Kime Aya, CMEO Dr Olik Taring, and other stakeholders.
The matter of providing relief assistance to the victims of the recent thunderstorms and fire accidents was also discussed and finalized.
