BOMDILA, May 25: Sixty senior citizens in the BPL category and eight divyangjans (persons with disability) received free aids and appliances during a two-day assessment camp conducted here on Friday under the Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) programme and the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY).
West Kameng is one among 182 districts selected all over India as part of the pilot project for implementation of the RVY.
The assessment camps were held in 11 administrative centres of the district, and 942 beneficiaries under the RVY and 171 under the ADIP were identified for distribution of free aids and assisted living devices to senior citizens in the BPL category and free aids and appliances to divyangjans.
The camps were conducted by the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India under the union social justice ministry’s department of empowerment of persons with disability, in collaboration with the district administration. (DIPRO)
