KARSINGSA, May 26: Environment & Forests Minister Nabam Rebia on Saturday inaugurated Duda, a new village under Karsingsa panchayat in Banderdewa circle.
Addressing the inaugural function, Rebia urged the villagers to maintain brotherhood and harmony, and emphasized on preservation of the local flora and fauna. He warned the villagers against hunting and destroying forests.
Responding to a memorandum, the minister assured to take steps for construction of a two-km road from NH-415 to Duda village and a hanging bridge over Karsingsa Nallah, with an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakhs from his MLALAD fund. He also assured to provide electricity connection within a short time.
Rebia directed the officers present to prepare an estimate for flood control measures in the next financial year.
Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner In-charge Tolum Dupak assured all support from the administration in developmental activities, and sought cooperation of the villagers in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere.
Among others, Banderdewa ZPM Kipa Urni, IMC Councillor Tai Tassung, Village Committee chairman Tani Bagang, and BJP leader Kipa Taniang were present on the occasion.
