MECHUKHA, Jun 12: The Boh Ramo Bokar (Adi) Elite Society has requested the education department to introduce science and commerce streams in the government higher secondary school here in West Siang district.
In a representation to the education minister, the group said introduction of the two streams in the school would enable many students of the area to pursue the subjects at their doorstep.
Presently, students who want to study these subjects have to go to schools outside the Mechukha, the memorandum said.
“But many parents with low incomes cannot afford to send their children to schools outside their area,” it said.
