ITANAGAR, Jun 13: Reacting on the allegation levelled by the All Kra-Daadi District Students’ Union (AKDDSU) against the deputy commissioner (DC) of misappropriation of untied fund and SIDF, District Planning Officer (DPO) Biri Tako said that the DC’s office has no role in the matter related to alleged misuse of fund.
In an open discussion with the executive members of the AKDDSU headed by its president Gora Rikam Bhai on Tuesday, the DOP informed that the DC has nothing to do with the sanction of untied schemes/ fund to any individual while violating the norms of works order as alleged by AKDDSU.”
‘Under the untied schemes, state government has sanctioned the funds which were allotted in the month of March 2018 last for Kra-Daadi district’, said Tako, adding that it is the state government who allocated fund to a reputed executing agency for speedy execution of works.
However, Rikam said, the state government should not involve in political game in the name of overall development of newly created district. Alleging that the state government has distributed works on pick-and-choose basis on party line, Rikam said ‘no recommendation from DC’s end was made on awarding of works order to few individuals.’
While withdrawing their allegations against the DC Pige Ligu, the AKDDSU demanded that ‘the state government publish a white paper on the aforesaid allegation if the government did not award contract works to the agency on pick-and-choose basis, failing which the Union will initiate a democratic movement to unearth the truth’.
Earlier, the union alleged that the Kra-Daadi DC has misappropriated the untied fund by making payments without execution of works, such as security fencing for large lardamom garden in Chambang to a tune of Rs 1 crore and micro irrigation channel in Chambang circle worth Rs 1 crore, and had demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry into the matters.
Requesting the DC to give prior importance on education and health sectors besides overall infrastructure development of the district, the AKDDSU also informed the DPO that most of the government school of Kra-Daadi district are facing rampant land encroachment problem, poor infrastructure, and acute shortages of books and other materials.
