YINGKIONG, Jun 26: Awareness cum sensitization programme on disaster management was organized by the Upper Siang District Disaster Management Authority in collaboration with the 12th Bn NDRF team from Doimukh at Government Town Secondary School, here on Tuesday.
DDMO in-charge Baling Yirang gave emphasis on precautionary measures required to minimize the extent of property damages or loss of human lives during disaster.
Informing that schools are vulnerable areas for disaster, he said the disaster management department has planned to conduct such programme in all schools of Upper Siang district. He also briefed on the dos and don’ts during the time of disaster.
NDRF team Commander Inspector, Rana Kumar said that such awareness and sensitization programme is the need of the hour as disaster occurs mostly in monsoon season. He advised the students to follow the safety tips which are displayed in disaster awareness programmes.
Mock drill on disaster, search and rescue operation by fire service personnel were also held. (DIPRO)
