ITANAGAR, Jul 06: Hardening its stand against the illegal issuance of Scheduled Tribe certificates (STC) to Tibetan refugees in the district, the All Tawang District Students’ Union (ATDSU) on Friday served a 20-day ultimatum to the chief secretary to cancel the STC issued to three individuals.
In a representation to the CS, the union also demanded action against illegal encroachment on government land in the district.
It urged the CS to constitute a committee to look into the matter of Tibetans benefiting from both STCs and refugee cards, and to also cancel within two weeks the STCs issued to non-Monpas in the district.
The ATDSU had earlier raised the issues in a representation it had submitted to the CS on 29 June.
