KHONSA, Jul 18: The Tirap district SSA Mission organized a workshop on cluster level capacity building training for school managing committees (SMCs) and Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) under Kapu and Dadam clusters here on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner PN Thungon urged the chairmen of all SMCs under Kapu and Dadam clusters to play vital roles in school management to ensure regular functioning of schools. SMCs and PRIs must create awareness amongst the parents and community leaders about their role in improving the education scenario, Thungon said.
Stating that real happiness can be achieved through good education but not through earning huge amount of money, the DC said that the SMC must adopt good practices and conduct social service programmes at least twice a month and take up classroom, toilets, boundary walls repairing works on community-help basis.
The DC also asked all anganwadi workers to impart nursery level education to the children in the villages.
Thungon further suggested proper demarcation of school campuses and to keep proper documents of school lands to avoid untoward controversies in the future.
DDSE Pubi Lombi suggested an SMC meeting every month to review the school activities and find out solutions to any school-related problem. The SMC will have to assist teachers in preparing teaching-leasing materials from locally available resources, Lombi said.
BEO and resource person, Wanglat Wangsa emphasized on proper utilization of funds, maintenance of accounts and social audit at the end of every academic year.
