NABARD’s SLUCC and SLTC meetings held

ITANAGAR, Jul 20: The Arunachal Pradesh regional office (RO) of the NABARD conducted its State Level Unit Cost Committee (SLUCC) meeting for the year 2018-19 here on Friday.
NABARD RO general manager Gyanendra Mani in his address emphasized on the role of unit costs in scaling up financing of farm and non-farm sector activities in the state.
“Many a time, the bankers’ dilemma in assessing accurate unit costs for various activities lead to low ground level credit flow,” he said, and stressed on timely conduct of unit cost meeting which will help in overall increase in credit flow, especially in the rural sector.
“This will automatically lead to enhanced funding in agriculture and allied activities, and thereby enhancement of income for the farmers,” he said.
He appreciated the departments and the KVK officials for providing component-wise break up of various activities eligible for finance.
It may be mentioned here that for the first time, the RO has prepared component-wise unit costs of various farm and non-farm sector activities in the state.
The unit costs for potential activities under various sectors, such as animal husbandry, plantation and horticulture, farm mechanization, land development, fishery, and sericulture, were discussed and finalized during the meeting.
A PowerPoint presentation on the the prevalent unit costs and those proposed by the departments for the year 2018-19 was also made during the meeting.
The RO also conducted its State Level Technical Committee (SLTC) Meeting for determining the scale of finance for major crops for 2018-19.
Apex Bank Managing Director T Thongdok presented component-wise breakup of the same, which was discussed and approved by the members.
Namsai KVK head Dr Manish Kanwat spoke on the possibilities of including any specific activity which has not included so far under farm and non-farm sectors.
Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh is one of the 115 aspirational districts selected by the NITI Aayog.
Besides bankers, officials from various departments, KVKs and the NABARD RO also spoke.
