Meeting on improving state’s bamboo sector held

NEW DELHI, Jul 26: Arunachal Pradesh Bamboo Resources Development Agency (APBRDA) chairman Yora Tagung on Thursday participated in a lengthy discussion with several top officials here with regard to development bamboo resources in Arunachal Pradesh.
The officers included DoNER Ministry Director VL Roui Kullai, NITI Aayog Advisor (Agriculture) Dr JP Mishra, and DoNER Secretary N Verma. They discussed various projects to be taken up in the districts of the state in 2018-19.
Tagung later stated in a press release that the Centre promised its full support for bamboo-related projects in the state. He added that plans under the APBRDA, such as bamboo-based nurseries, treatment plants, bamboo shoot processing centres, and bamboo-related industry, would be rolled out for the economic development of the state and the country.
During his meeting with Dr Mishra, Tagung spoke about the issues pertaining to the bamboo sector and setting up of bamboo-based industries in Arunachal Pradesh.
Dr Mishra assured full cooperation from his side to boost the economic growth of the state, Tagung said.
