‘Drivers should follow traffic rules’

NAHARLAGUN, Jul 29: Transport Director Tage Tado said that the traffic rules framed by the government need to be followed by all drivers.
Attending a ‘mass meeting and awareness programme’ at a city hotel here on Sunday, Tado said the rules, regulations and guidelines are modified from time to time for the convenience of all.
“There should be fear in the mind of drivers of being caught by law enforcing agency, so that they follow traffic rules. Since the road in the capital complex is under construction, we should ensure that negligence on our part does not create inconvenience or becomes the source of a fatal accident,” he said, and urged all stakeholders to create awareness in this regard.
He also assured his full support to the activities of the transport federation and its allied organisations in all related matters.
All Arunachal Pradesh Tour Operator Association president John Panye said formation of any union, association or organisation should be for the welfare of its members, and advocated following the guidelines of the law.
“There have been several instances of traffic violation by the members as well, and such violations need to be reduced, so that the public has a clean image of us,” he said, adding that there is a need of change in behaviour.
He also suggested introducing uniforms for commercial vehicle drivers, like in other states.
All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) president Dobing Sonam appealed to all transport federation and association members to join hands for a better Arunachal by following traffic rules.
He urged all members to verify whether their vehicles are roadworthy, and to keep their documents updated.
The programme was organised by the All Naharlagun Auto-rickshaw Welfare Association under the banner of the AAPPTF.
