International Youth Day celebrated

ITANAGAR, Aug 12: International Youth Day (IYD) was celebrated at Hokka village here on Sunday in a programme organized by the Indo-Global Social Service Society (IGSSS) in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK).
The theme for this year’s IYD celebration was ‘Safe spaces for youth’.
All Arunachal Pradesh Labour Union president Dana Tadu spoke about youth empowerment and the role of the youths in nation-building, while the youth development project officer of the IGSSS highlighted the relevance of the theme for this year’s IYD celebration.
A skit on gender equality and career guidance by students from the RGU, and literary competitions were the other highlights of the celebration.
Youths from different villages participated in the celebration.
The IGSSS also organised a two-day programme in collaboration with the Hokka Youth Club and NYK at the Nyokum ground in Hokka village.
A volleyball tournament, organized as part of the IYD celebration by the IGSSS in collaboration the Hokka Youth Club, is currently underway at the Nyokum ground.
Ten youth clubs from different villages of Itanagar area are participating in the tournament, which will continue till 14 August.
