BALIJAN, Aug 19: Thousands of people from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh witnessed the 1st ever Independence Day Cup football tournament organized by the All Papum Poma Students’ Union at the general ground here.
More than 19 teams, including 10 teams from Assam, participated in the tournament. Papum Pare United FC won the tournament after defeating Alu Pura of Assam by 3-0 goals.
The winner and runner-up teams were awarded trophies and cash prizes. The valedictory function was attended by, among others, OSD to Land Management & Forests Minister, Nabam Vivek, former ANSU president Likha Teji, and AAPSU leader Teli Taning (Kelvin).
